BFI Purchases Ontario Landfill From Waste Management

BFI Canada Income Fund has purchased the Ridge Landfill in Chatham, Ontario for $89.9 million to expand its presence in the Toronto area. The 647-acre landfill has an estimated 19 years of capacity remaining, and reported profits of C$12 million in 2003 on revenues of C$17 million. Casella Waste Systems has announced it plans to periodically sell up to $250 million in debt securities, preferred and common stock, warrants and units.
