California and Butte County Officials to Join Ameresco to Mark Completion of New Landfill Gas-to-Energy Project

U.S. Congressman-Elect Doug LaMalfa and local leaders will join Ameresco executives for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize the completion of construction on the 2.2 megawatt (MW) landfill gas-to-energy project at Butte County's Neal Road landfill. The only one-of-its- kind north of Sacramento, the facility will collect methane gas produced by decaying organic materials and process it to generate power, with a portion of the revenues from the sale of that power returned to the County for the duration of the 20-year contract. Projected to expand to 4.3 MW, Ameresco designed, built, owns, operates and maintains the facility, which generates enough clean energy to power over 1,300 homes.
