Electronics recycler AERC Recycling Solutions, Inc. (Flanders, NJ) announced that its Electronics Processing (Com-Cycle) facilities in Ashland, Virginia, and in Houston, Texas, received certification under the Responsible Recycling (R2) and Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS) programs. AERC now has three R2/RIOS-certified facilities and is in the process of seeking certification for its facilities in Hayward, California, and Allentown, Pennsylvania. "The standards defined in the R2 and RIOS certification programs are a much-needed first step in the electronics recycling industry," said Robert Landmesser, AERC's founder and chairman. The R2 and RIOS programs are administered by ISRI Services Corp., an arm of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.

AERC Recycling Solutions Attains R2 / RIOS Certification for Ashland, Virginia and Houston, Texas Facilities
AERC.com, Inc.'s (AERC Recycling Solutions) Electronics Processing Com-Cycle facilities in Ashland, Virginia and Houston, Texas have attained R2 / RIOS Certification. AERC / Com-Cycle Ashland is located at 10991 Leadbetter Road, Ashland, Virginia. AERC / Com-Cycle Houston is located at 1610 Greens Road, Suite 200, Houston, Texas. These AERC / Com-Cycle facilities have been audited by Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc. (PJR Associates), an Accredited Certification Body for R2 / RIOS Standards.
AERC currently has three Electronics Processing Com-Cycle facilities distinguished as Certified Electronics Recycler® facilities. The Company is committed to obtaining R2 / RIOS Certification for its remaining Com-Cycle facilities located in Hayward, CA and Allentown, PA. AERC / Com-Cycle West Melbourne was the first of AERC's facilities to become a Certified Electronics Recycler® in 2010.

RIOS (Recycling Industry Operating Standard) Program, the recycling industry's quality, environmental and health & safety management system standard, is administered by ISRI Services Corporation (ISC). R2 (Responsible Recycler) Practices were developed by the EPA and are supported by ISC. R2 outlines specific guidelines for recyclers who dismantle and refurbish end-of-life electronics. Together, these industry standards make up ISRI's R2 / RIOS Certified Electronics Recycler® Program.
