The City of Montgomery has reached an agreement with Plasma Waste Recycling, Incorporated (PWR) for the completion of a feasibility study to determine the viability of constructing a permanent plasma gasification plant in Montgomery.

"The feasibility study is the heart and soul of this project, we had to agree to terms on the study before we could move forward," says Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange.

PWR has developed new proprietary technology that converts solid waste to marketable energy through a plasma gasification process that reduces the need for landfills. The technology complements Montgomery's desire to find methods of solid waste disposal that are environmentally-friendly and maximize the use of recoverable energy and materials.

Plasma gasification technology has its origins in the U.S. space program. "This project puts Montgomery in the forefront of this field," say officials with Huntsville-based PWR.
