Waste Solutions For Municipalities To Become Easier With New Joint Venture Between EnviroSolutions, Anastasio Group & CSX Transportation

  • Use Of Railroad Transportation For Processed Waste Shipments Will Ease Road Congestion, Environmental & Safety Concerns & Save Taxpayer Dollars

EnviroSolutions, Inc., a leading waste solutions company with offices in New Jersey, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia, announced today that it has entered into a joint venture with the Anastasio Group, New Haven, CT and CSX Transportation, Jacksonville, FL. The joint venture will offer municipalities, public authorities, states and corporations complete waste handling and processing services utilizing rail transportation systems.

"With increasing fuel costs, rail transportation has become a very cost-effective method over trucking. Our new partnership has created a seamless process for collecting, processing and shipping waste by rail transportation. There are numerous environmental and cost benefits with the use of rail. With less trucks on the road, there is a positive impact on overall air quality and highway congestion. Our new joint venture brings a variety of environment and economic benefits to our present and future customers," said Scott Cunningham, V.P., EnviroSolutions.

"The use of rail for shipping waste has now been widely recognized as a very environmentally-friendly and energy efficient transportation option. Because trains are more than three times as fuel efficient as trucks, shifting just ten percent of long-haul waste from truck to rail would reduce fuel consumption by more than one billion gallons a year. As one of the largest CSX Transportation's clients, Anastasio Group's Circle of Life, Anastasio Trucking and New Haven National Rail have become leaders in the rail freight industry. Equally important is our commitment to helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by providing rail as a transportation option to fuel driven vehicles," explained Andy Anastasio, CEO, Anastasio Group.

Representatives from EnviroSolutions and the Anastasio Group will be the featured speakers at an upcoming Connecticut Business Hall Of Fame networking event that will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 in Hartford, CT from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Scott Cunningham, EnviroSolutions, and Andy Anastasio, Anastasio Group, will talk about "Green Initiatives In Connecticut & How Railroad Transportation Is A Winning Solution For Waste Handling Efforts".
