Sims Recycling Solutions continues its Canadian growth with the
acquisition of Accu-Shred, a leading Canadian electronics recycling
business.
Founded in 1994, Accu-Shred has established itself as one of Ontario's leading
environmentally sound end of life electronics recyclers. It is anticipated that the
transition for customers should be very smooth due to the similar business
philosophies of the two companies.
Steve Skurnac, President of Sims Recycling Solutions in North America commented:
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Accu-Shred into our business. Their strong
customer base and commitment to providing environmentally sound recycling offers
Sims an excellent platform for further growth in the Canadian markets. Growing
awareness of the intrinsic resource recovery and hazard management from end of life
electronics as well as an increasing focus on Social Responsibility makes this a key
sector for anyone serious about providing a complete solution to WEEE."
"Sims Recycling Solutions is very well positioned to continue in its market leadership
position, and to prepare for the large volumes of WEEE expected to arise from Ontario
WEEE regulations. Our commitment to this business continues through this
investment and is the first step of a larger strategic growth plan in Canada."
