Pasco County Florida Has Plans to Expand Burn Plant

Pasco County Florida Commissioners agreed to pursue a $160 million bond issue to finance an expansion of their waste-to-energy plant. The proposed expansion would increase daily operating capacity by 600 tons making it viable for the next 20 years. Meanwhile, the county will sign a four-year contract with Waste Services Inc. to haul the 61,000 tons excess waste annually to Osceola County. The plant's three burners currently process 318,209 tons of waste per year.
