Joe Sikes Oil Service of Jefferson, Ga. is facing a $30,400 fine after a federal investigation has determined that it was negligent in a fatal explosion at its facility. The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration determined that the company allegedly exposed workers to safety and health hazards that contributed to a June accident that killed one worker. OSHA found that the company did not check the flammability of incoming waste oil and did not properly recycle the material.
