The Ohio Attorney General's Office is attempting to get more details about the ownership of the Envirosafe hazardous waste landfill in Oregon, Ohio, using secrecy provisions to obtain documents and financial statements on Envirosafe's net worth dating to 2001. The information would not be available to citizens under the state public records law. The background investigation, state officials said, is to ensure that the owners and operators are competent and capable of running a hazardous waste landfill. Envirosafe officials countered that the state has all the information it needs.
