A Fulton County (Ga.) Superior Court judge has sided with Taliaferro County (web.infoave.net/&taliaferro) in a ruling denying Atlanta-based Complex Environmental Inc. the right to build an 820-acre landfill in the city. The county had been fighting the landfill for more than a year; in October 2003, three county commissioners actually spent several hours in jail for refusing to comply with a judge's order to acknowledge that the landfill complied with the county's zoning regulations. The state Environmental Protection Division has determined that the proposed site is suitable for hosting a landfill.
