The city of Denver and Waste Management Inc. will pay a $265,000 penalty for violations of cleanup requirements at the Lowry Landfill Superfund site in Arapahoe County. The fine arose as the result of alleged mismanagement of gas emitted by the 480-acre site between August 1998 and January 1999. Denver and Waste Management are facing an EPA lawsuit over an estimated $19 million in cleanup costs at the landfill.
