As a result of a partnership with the aluminum industry, Habitat For Humanity affiliates earned an additional $1.4 million in 2003. Under the partnership, entitled Cans for Habitat, affiliates recycled more than $1.3 million in aluminum cans. Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2003, 17 affiliate grant winners recycled more than 550,000 pounds of aluminum cans, generating almost $210,000 in revenue for local Habitat programs, a 370 percent increase over 2002. The grant winners shared a total of $167,000 in grants.
