ABSRACT:
This month
the editors of Solid Waste Digest called on a diverse group of industry
executives to give us their opinions about the waste management
industry. The opinions that follow hail from a diverse group of
professionals that represent both government and private sectors,
consultants, engineers, lobbyists, attorneys, associations and company
managements. They each bring with them unique perspectives, concerns,
axes to grind, possibly even biases. In some cases, we asked them
various questions and in others we solicited their unvarnished opinions.
Our challenge is to get at the root of the challenges facing the
industry, the commonality of concerns and differences of opinion
and why. To better understand the differences, we asked our interviewees
about their particular role, what were and continue to be their
greatest challenges, and where they see opportunities in the future.
