SPECIAL REPORT: Year-End Data Review:
Waste Disposal Volumes Flat Amid Decreasing but Still Excessive Capacity

ISSUE: Volume 13, Number 1-2 January / February 2003

ABSTRACT:

What makes the waste management industry appealing is that the problem of waste management will always be with us. A steadily growing population combined with our insatiable need for ever more disposable products seems to guarantee steadily growing demand for disposal. Despite our advances in packaging, refrigeration, and transportation, we continue to generate more waste per capita every year.
