New York City Recycling
Rollback: Big Apple Cuts Plastic, Glass Collections;
Debate Rages On Implications

ABSTRACT:
New Yorkers
like to believe that as the Big Apple goes, so goes the nation.
More often than not, for good or ill, its a true sentiment,
as the solid waste industry has seen in recent years. The states
waste exports have spawned dissent and attempts at retaliatory legislation
in states as far away as Texas. And when the Fresh Kills landfill
closed recently, the extra 14,000 tons of daily waste changed the
entire complexion of waste flow throughout the Eastern United States.
