| | 1. | WASTE CONNECTIONS RELEASES THIRD-QUARTER RESULTS |
| | | Waste Connections, Inc. (NYSE: WCN) has
announced third quarter earnings of $0.51 per share, an increase of 10.9 percent over the same period last year. Revenue for the third quarter was $188.7 million, a 17.1 percent increase over the $161.2 million in the same quarter last year. Operating income for the quarter was $46.5 million, up 7.9 percent over operating income of $43.1 million in the third quarter of 2004. Already this year, the company has closed acquisitions in nine states with annualized revenues totaling about $50 million.

| | 2. | FOSTER WHEELER WINS ITALIAN WTE CONTRACT |
| | | Foster Wheeler Ltd.'s Milan-based subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Italiana S.p.A., has won an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the addition of a new processing line at Lomellina Energia's existing waste-to-energy plant at Parona, Italy. Foster Wheeler Italiana S.p.A. owns 39 percent of Lomellina Energia S.r.l. The total contract value will exceed $130 million, or 110 million
Euros. Commercial operation is scheduled for September 2007.

| | 3. | ALLIED WASTE REPORTS THIRD-QUARTER EARNINGS |
| | | Allied Waste (NYSE: AW) has reported financial results for the third quarter of 2005. Operating income increased $229 million compared to $228 million in the year-ago quarter. Third quarter internal revenue growth increased 4.8 percent over the prior year; company officials credited the growth to strong price and volume increases. In addition, $7 million in reductions to operating income related to the Gulf Coast
hurricanes were included in the third quarter 2005 results.

| | 4. | US POSTAL SERVICE NAMES SAFETY-KLEEN WASTE SOLUTIONS PROVIDER |
| | | The United States Postal Service has awarded Safety-Kleen Systems a multi-year, exclusive contract to provide regulated waste management solutions. Safety-Kleen will service approximately 750 postal facilities that support more than 37,000 individual offices across the United States. The Postal Service is the third-largest employer in the United States, after the Defense Departmentand Wal-Mart, and operates the largest civilian vehicle fleet in the world.

| | 5. | MEXICO SEEKS TO CUT DOWN ON BORDER TIRE PILES |
| | | Mexico is working to cut down the number of tire dumps stacked along the U.S. border. The nation's environment ministry said around 2.3 million tires had been removed from seven dumps along the 2,000-mile border since June 2004 as part of a bilateral effort to clean up the territory. The project, operated in conjunction with the federal EPA, removed tires from six dumps south of California and
one south of Texas. |
